Elders
Pastor Joel Chong
Joel was ordained as pastor of ECC in 2024. He has a passion for intentional, relational discipleship and the intergenerational nature of God’s mission within our churches. Joel previously worked as a project consultant for an Australian bank for 17 years before completing a Masters of Ministry at Morling Theological College. He is married to Trish, and they have three children.
Bobby Ching
Bobby (a.k.a. Robert) Ching serves Jesus through his work as a Rehabilitation Manager with the Department of Defence; overseeing the care of people whose service is impacted by injury or illness. He was awarded an Australia Day Medal in 2021 for his compassion and commitment to healthcare. He completed a Diploma in Biblical Theology in 2018 at Moore College which he has used alongside his professional counselling and management skills to lead the church as an Elder since 2019. He is married to Karen and they have a son. Bobby loves to play tennis, is an avid cyclist and car enthusiast.
Jonathan Chong
Jonathan (Jon) is married to Fey and has two boys. His love language is to cook for others but he also has a tragic love for dad jokes. He has a diploma in Biblical Theology and has led and mentored many young Christians during his university days and in the church. Jon is also a financial planner, helping others think forward to their retirement, but more than that, Jon looks for ways to encourage others to think forward to eternity.
Deacons
Perry Tsang
Perry and his wife Stephanie are passionate Christian parents, modelling faith and teaching their three kids about Jesus. Together, they lead our kids ministry, sharing the good news of Jesus that gives life to children and families. Perry works as a business operations manager during the week and curates his own coffee+keto diet. He also enjoys designing videos, singing and drumming.
Albert Lee
Albert is retired and spent most of his working career in marketing in the Pharmaceutical Industry. He migrated to Australia in 1990 and became a Christian soon after arrival. He has been a member with ECC since 2007 where he has been involved in the coordination of Men’s ministry and welcoming. He has a heart for the seniors in our church community and for those yet to find God through his ministry on the golf course. He enjoys his weekly rounds of golf and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren
Jonathon Choo
Jonathon (Jonno) is married to Jo. They love fried chicken, board games and playing cricket with their two kids. Jonno has a passion to see Christ's work continue to grow in this world by fostering a global worldview. Together with Jo, they lead a growth group and are trying to build stronger relationships with local and overseas missionaries and organisations that ECC supports. During the week Jonno is a software developer in the city.
Lauren Chong
Lauren grew up attending ECC and has served in various ministries including youth group, the worship team and Sunday School. She hopes to connect more intentionally with others one to one or in small groups, to encourage the growth of God's kingdom, and to challenge others to integrate faith into their daily lives. During the week, she works as a geriatrician at a major Sydney teaching hospital. Outside of work, she loves reading, music, snowboarding and playing ultimate frisbee on Monday nights.
Brendan Lee
Brendan is married to Felia and they have three children. At ECC, he leads one of the growth groups and is involved in the music ministry. He also coordinates the welcoming and follow up activities for newcomers (which suits him since he likes to talk and eat). During the week, Brendan works in infrastructure development where he is responsible for the commercial and financial structuring of projects. He also enjoys being outdoors, catching up with friends & family and good food - preferably all at the same time!
Elaine Chan
Elaine works as a pharmacist at a major hospital. In 2002, one of her dying patients asked her about her faith. She told him she had recently noticed a church near where she lived, with signs on the corner of Masons Drive and Pennant Hills Rd. Her patient told her “I preach there sometimes!”. That Sunday, she visited for the first time, and was surprised to be welcomed by name. Since then, her deep connection with the church community grows through her love for Jesus. Elaine leads a growth group that studies the Bible in English and Cantonese.
