On February 15, we’ll have an open time of Q+A with Pastor Joel who will share reflections on our ministry shape heading in 2026, and some of the ministry vision of the Church Council.
We will take questions in person, but you can submit your questions ahead of time (and we’ll make sure it’s answered on the day!)
2026 Ministry Vision
Last year, we kicked off the year with “Ministry in Teams / 60 for Sunday” - an extension of establishing a culture of Ministry in Teams. I’m thankful for the humble servant-hearted response across the church. We had over 70 people connected with serving teams by mid-year. That willl grow to more than 80 this year as we prepare the high-schoolers who have volunteered to join in ministry!
In 2026, our ministry focus is “Leadership and the Lost” which I briefly shared last Sunday.
In Equipping Leaders - We want to make sure every ministry leader is supported in their responsibilities: to create the right sustainable shape of ministry, and connecting resources and training for our leaders. But it’s not just about people in ‘leader’ roles: this is about equipping every team member to exercise a natural posture of spiritual leadership in all they do. We want to equip all our members, to be trusted and confident in reading the Bible with others.
In the Lost - we very much have the Lost Sheep (in Luke 15) in mind. Rather than a program, it’s a mindset we want to spark in every ministry: keeping in mind the love we are called to have towards people who don’t yet know Jesus. We want to be intentional in how we welcome visitors, how we allow them to experience worship, and how we will invite people to be a part of God’s kingdom people.
Some of the areas we hope to nurturing our mission heart 2026 includes: Welcoming, Outreach, BAM Sundays, Evangelism (e.g. New to Christianity).

Key Ministry Updates for 2026
Church Council
Elder Bobby will take a break from Church Council responsibilities after completing 3 consecutive terms. For governance purposes, our Elders will fold back into the monthly Deacons meeting.
Sam Lin has joined the Council.
Sunday Ministries
Welcoming -This team was newly established itself last year, with Ushering and Hospitality sub-teams. Thank you to the great number of volunteers for this key ministry. We hope the team helps lead our church with the Jesus-centred welcoming culture - allowing visitors to feel like they’re in the right place from the moment they arrive.
Worship - Jason Yap and Steph Chiu will take on leadership responsibilities from Perry. Praise God the team has grown over the years, with chairpersons, songleaders, musicians and A/V working together to serve our church in God-centred worship.
Way2Go - the team have taken on a number of new volunteers (particularly among our high schoolers). Through the team, Stephanie is training our teachers to read the Bible and to distil it in a way to teach to primary school children.
Key Ministries
Growth Groups - some groups have re-shuffled to start the year. We’ve defined some of the leading responsibilities of healthy groups - which include study leading + group co-ordination. It’s important that these responsibilities are shared, with a view of mature groups having multiple people serve in these ways.
Seniors - Especially among our seniors, there’s many ailments we’re carrying. Strokes, joint replacements, arthritis, memory loss. Nonetheless, God strengthens each one to serve others meaningfully with the capabilities he gives us - and our church is encouraged by it. Our love for one another in these areas is testament to God’s goodness. It’s a core ministry that allows us to be a John 13:34 church.
WACD (Youth Group) + High School Sunday School - The WACD leadership team (Lauren, Caleb and Dion) will be joined by Perry Tsang and Cynthia Huang. Dion will take a break from leading while he and Regina settle into their new life together. On Sundays, we’re praying for a team of people to serve alongside Elder Jon to engage with them after church and help them consolidate what they learn from the Sunday’s message.
Mission - The team continues to grow and mature. We’ve increased our mission budget this year with thanks to those who have made a pledge to support B financially. (He now has a planned date to move overseas and begin his first term). For us, there’s an event the team is planning (Mar 14) to learn from the experiences of L+L in being Christian in a Muslim context.
Council Retreat Discussions and Outcomes
Over the summer, the Church Council spent two days to discuss more strategic matters. Here’s some of the things we discussed for the future of our church and its future:
Three Perspective of Kingdom for our church
The Gospel and a Lifetime: The movement of the gospel is generational. We must consider how the church is culturally foundational across people from many (if not all) life stages.
The Gospel and a City: Our city is full of hundreds of thousands of people of all backgrounds and cultures. We must consider what our God is doing amongst our churches in light of the of the city we live in.
The Gospel and our Church: Where do we see God leading us, in the shape of who we are today. We must consider the spiritual and practical changes we need to confront, to be a church that faithfully submits to God’s leading.
Current and Future Leadership
We prayed over all the current and future Christian leaders in our church
Tithing and Stewardship
Earmarked Gifts - we clarified how we properly facilitate and steward gifts directed towards gospel purposes (outlined in the 2025 Annual Report)
Building Fund - we have invested some effort to and to communicate what God must enable to steward this for its purpose.
Constitution Amendments - we discussed clarifications and clean-up of key terms, which we will present to the church at a later date.
If you missed it, you might refer to our 2025 Annual report, linked below.
